Vision:
      Investing the knowledge heritage in employing the historical heritage and Iraqi cultural heritage to highlight the bright aspects of civilizations in Mesopotamia through historical times and linking past to the present and extrapolating the future by studying the experiences of the past and absorbing them to benefit from their positives and avoiding their negatives, trying to understand past in the spirit of the present because studying history is a dynamic and interconnected process that stems from present to understand the past. In addition to the need to understand the history of other peoples in their different eras, to know the reality of civilizational link between them on one hand, and between them and our civilizational history.
 
Message:
      Contribute to the scientific, cultural and social formation of students and faculty members to participate in human development of society to advance national awareness within the framework of a single social fabric that boasts of its diversity, based on the principle that the formation of peoples is based on: history, language, and religion. And that history is not satisfied with process of criticizing and analyzing texts, but rather trying to understand them comprehensively, links to the development of human civilization.
 
  • Goals:
  • Preparing qualified cadres for research in the subject of history and social studies in Ministries of Education and Higher Education.
  • Providing students with specialized knowledge and understanding in ancient, Islamic, modern and contemporary history.
  • Developing the graduate’s leadership and professional personality as a scientific researcher in history.
  • Providing students with general skills necessary for communication, solidarity and cooperation with local community, realistically and electronically, and graduating scientific competencies to meet their needs.
  • Moving away from ideology in teaching history and presenting it in an abstract scientific spirit that relies on modern theories and the findings of contemporary studies.
  • Approaching other humanities and social sciences and benefiting from their theories in teaching history, especially sociology, philosophy and geography.

Admission Requirements for the History Department – College of Arts / Al-Iraqia University:

1️⃣ Morning Study:

Admission to the History Department at the College of Arts at Al-Iraqia University requires that the student’s preparatory study average in the literary branch is not less than 64% for morning studies.

The tuition fees for parallel government education (an additional 6 marks added to the general average) are 450,000 IQD (four hundred and fifty thousand Iraqi dinars).

2️⃣ Evening Study:

For evening studies, the College of Arts has announced that the admission average has been reduced to 58%, based on the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The tuition fees for evening studies are 900,000 IQD (nine hundred thousand Iraqi dinars).
