Department of Translation
Brief:
Department of Translation at College of Arts – Al- Iraqia University was established at the beginning of 2014-2015 academic year, according to what Ministry of Education, Scientific Research and Society needs, it represents a link in the interrelationship between them. The tremendous development of scientific, political, economic and international variables and the development of relations between countries led to the presence of a mediator between the different languages in the world, that is the translator, in addition to the growth of the labor market to qualified translators trained on different types of translation, including written translation (literary, commercial, scientific, journalistic, legal, technical and oral) consecutive and immediate in conferences and symposia . (The department grants a bachelor’s degree in translation).
Vision:
The department looks forward to develop translate at academic and professional levels, and to graduate qualified translators to meet labor market requirements
Message:
Work to make the department a sophisticated and renewable link to the requirements of modern and future era between Arab and Western cultures through transferring advanced cultural products.
Goals:
1- Keeping pace with technical development and scientific changes in the fields of English language knowledge that world is witnessing Arab, Asian and European, relying on constantly renewable and advanced technical devices, as well as on the scientific developments of modern teaching methods in teaching and training.
2- Strengthening the curricula by making it a realistic and as a linking between translation and renewable technical means in future.
3- Working on promoting scientific communication regarding the curricula development for teaching translation sciences between our department and other translation departments in Iraq, Arab and International Universities.

Admission Requirements for the Translation Department – College of Arts / Al-Iraqia University:
1️⃣ Morning Study:
Admission to the Translation Department at the College of Arts at Al-Iraqia University requires that the student’s preparatory study average in the literary branch is not less than 64% for morning studies.
The tuition fees for parallel government education (an additional 6 marks added to the general average) are 450,000 IQD (four hundred and fifty thousand Iraqi dinars).
2️⃣ Evening Study:
For evening studies, the College of Arts has announced that the admission average has been reduced to 58%, based on the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The tuition fees for evening studies are 900,000 IQD (nine hundred thousand Iraqi dinars).
