Vision  :

English Department seeks to be a pioneer and distinguished in the field of teaching the English language and achieving quality in educational fields, making it a distinguished academic and research department at the local, regional and global levels. To embody this vision, the department seeks to explore areas of scientific and cognitive development, keep pace with the latest technologies, encourage creative scientific research and provide its requirements, develop modern and effective teaching curricula, provide educational programs rich in content and activities, and build partnerships with local and international educational and research institutions. The Department of English believes that language is an essential tool for communication, interaction, and learning, and is committed to providing students with the language skills they need to succeed in their professional and personal lives.

English Department seeks to advance the intellectual, cultural and educational level of
students by developing their linguistic, intellectual and research skills. The department aims
to prepare distinguished graduates to serve the community and advance the region, and to prepare
researchers capable of keeping pace with scientific progress through scientific research and
community service. The department also seeks to encourage dialogue, understanding and
communication between cultures internally and externally, and to keep pace with the changes of
the times. The English Department seeks to be a beacon of science and knowledge in the region,
and a meeting place for different cultures.

Goals :

1.Preparing distinguished graduates in the English language who possess high-quality scientific
knowledge in the fields of language, literature, and translation, and who meet the requirements
of the labor market in Iraq. The department aims to provide students with the language and
communication skills they need for success in their professional and personal lives.

2. Providing a rich and interactive learning and teaching environment based on teaching
competencies and modern technologies, while paying attention to research activities.
The department aims to provide students with a distinctive educational experience that meets
their needs and helps them achieve their academic and personal goals.

3. Developing students’ communication skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing, 
and encouraging them to become aware of modern cultures and the English-speaking world. The 
department aims to provide students with the language skills they need to communicate with
 others from different cultures and understand the world around them.

4. Developing students’ creative critical thinking skills and developing their research 
capabilities in the specialized field. The department aims to provide students with the skills
 that enable them to analyze information, solve problems in a specific way, and focus on the
 specialized field.
5. Developing the scientific capabilities of faculty members in the areas of scientific research
 and investigation, as well as developing capabilities in the areas of employing academic skills.
 To provide faculty members with modern scientific skills that require great effort and quickly 
be able to disseminate them, and provide more details in education.
6. Evaluate the department’s performance periodically to improve educational teaching practices.
